Do you Christians listen to the bible?
It says in the bible, 1 Corhinthians 14:34,35
"women should keep silent in the churches, for they are not allowed to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. But if they want to learn anything, they should ask their husbands at home. For it is improper for a women to speak in church."
That is not my interpretation, but came word for word from the bible, and there is a passage which i believe states abortion as foul play and not murder, Exodus 21:22
"When man have a fight and hurt a pregnant woman, so that she suffers a miscarriage, but no further injury, the guilty one shall be fined as much as the woman's husband demands of him, and he sall pay in the presence of the judges."
To me this passage makes it sound like the baby who is killed before birth, doesn't count as a murder. For it is the husband who decides how much to fine, as if it were vandalized property, not a human being. And another bible verse, not directed to women, but bewilders me why God would say it, Exodus 21:2
"When you purchase a Hebrew slave, he is to serve you for six years, but in the seventh year he sall be given his freedom without cost."
Does God allow slavery? And what about this part of the ten commandments? Exodus 20:5
"you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation;"
Is it just me or did God say that punished down to the fourth generation of the children of someone who doesn't follow God's religion. How is that fair? I don't even know my great great grandpa, but I hope he worshiped God, because I don't want to be punished. I thought God was a loving God.
Yea these are just a few of the thousands of verses in the bible, but if it is improper to follow these verses, then how can you trust the rest? And as for the gospels, they weren't written by Mathew Mark Luke or John, but by people over a hundred years after. I don't know about you, but I don't know if I can trust their source. This is why I am an atheist, and I hope that I at least made you think, if you want to think some more, check out this video and tell me what you think.

I do not listen to the Bible, as it does not talk, but I do however read it and, as they say, ‘live the word. ‘
By ‘word,’ I mean religious truth. I wouldn’t expect you to understand this, judging by the nature of your question.

They listen to some parts. The important parts. That is, the parts they want to listen to. Cause, like, God was just kidding about with some of that stuff. . . . it’s not like was serious about ALL of it. Heh. That crazy God. . . . what tricky little mischeif will he get up to next?

•Bible only contains 10% or less word of God (RED ink). But 90% (BLACK ink) is man made doctrine. Bible is according to paul, mark, matthew, john and luke (whom between them wrote 28 chapters).
Jesus did not authorise anyone to write any book.
Jesus did NOT say: worship me or my mother!
Bible was written by 40 people over 1000/1500 yr period. Bible has 101 contradictions, 50,000 errors, pornography, incest, etc etc.
Do you still call it HOLY?
Where is the gospel according to Jesus?

I can assure you that St Augustine never said anything as stupidly pompous as “To me this passage makes it sound ” ? Who gives a ******* what you think. Something scholarly would be nice.

my Bible doesn’t speak. . . at least we have something you can judge us by. . . what are you judge by. . . subjectivity. . . what a laughable concept. . . if you actually want a mature conversations about the Bible it could be explained to you. . . but i doubt that is your point. . .

Paul had views that were extremely common for that time period (and womens rights really didn’t change until a couple hundred years ago), but the Bible was one of the few books at the time that actually did claim women should even be allowed to have rights, and be loved by their husbands. They are to have wisdom, the ability to teach, and also be political leaders. (Proverbs 31:26; Titus 2:2, Judges 4-5) The Bible stated that women could also work, make money, and be in business. (Proverbs 31:12-14, 16, 19-22, 31)
(Many societies today won’t even give women the same rights that the Bible has given them for thousands of years. )
Also, women and men are of equal value and worth to God. All believers, male and female, are all considered as “Sons of God” without distinction. (Galatians 3:26-29) Women were also made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27)
The passage in Exodus is actually defending the life of unborn children by declaring that “an eye for an eye” shall be the punishment for someone who harms a pregnant mother. You’d have noticed that if you read Exodus 21:23-25. This is placing exceptional value on the life of a pregnant woman, which, in turn, also displays a significant value on the life of the unborn child.
Slavery, like womens rights, was a staple of almost all ancient societies. But, once again, the Bible gave instructions on fair practices for treating slaves, whereas the rest of the world viewed them as lesser than human. (Deuteronomy 15:12-15; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 4:1)
Lastly, we are no longer punished for the actions of our ancestors. Jesus died to atone for the sins of the entire world. We will, however, be punished if we decided to follow in the same footsteps of our ancestors and live our lives in unrepentant sin.

you have to understand that some of those things don’t apply to the modern world. As time changes, the way in which we should do things change as well. Some of the customs in the Bible apply to what happened in the time period in which the Bible was written.

lack of understanding is only a problem for us, the abortion argument you made was not a miscarriage on purpose
your worship of God would cancel the curse

Catholicism does follow the woman silence. Part of the whole male priest deal.
The second, the killing is accidental.
The third is indentured servitude. Hebrew slavery was not modern slavery.
In the fourth, the very next verse it states “But I show my love to thousands of generations of those who love me and obey my laws. ”
Doesn’t 1,000 generations trump 4?
Your final statement is an example of the liar fallacy. Basically it states that because someone has been wrong, it does not mean that everything he says is wrong.
E. G. : “John is a liar. John said he got an A in Math. Therefore, John did not get an A in math. ” See the fallacy?

No, I cannot listen to the bible because it cannot talk, however I do read it and those passages are way out of context and you worded some differently
